Matcha boasts numerous benefits of its own, but by combining it with collagen, we’ve truly made our Matcha Collagen a nutritional powerhouse. Whole30-approved and free from artificial ingredients, added sugars, gluten, and dairy, Vital Proteins Matcha Collagen provides steady energy, plentiful antioxidants, and 10 grams of clean collagen protein per serving.

Health Benefits of Matcha

Matcha has been gaining popularity in recent years, and for good reason. Long a component of ancient tea ceremonies in Japan, matcha has made its way into the mainstream thanks to its impressive nutritional profile.

For one thing, matcha is packed with antioxidants. All tea is made from the same plant, but unlike traditional green tea, which is simply bagged and infused into a cup of hot water, matcha is made from fully ground tea leaves that are fully mixed into a cup of hot water. The fact that matcha drinkers consume the actual leaf, rather than just its infusion, is responsible for matcha’s impressive level of antioxidants. In fact, one study found that matcha has 137 times the number of antioxidants of regular green tea (1).

Antioxidants play an important role in health and well-being.They transfer electrons to free radicals in the body, neutralizing the effects of oxidization, which has been linked to all areas of health.

Additionally, matcha may help to encourage a healthy metabolism and promote a healthy weight. One study found that matcha has thermogenic properties (2).

A Steady Stream of Energy

Matcha is a naturally caffeinated substance, containing about 60 mgs of caffeine per cup. But although the caffeine in matcha can boost energy levels, it’s very different from the energy felt with coffee.

While caffeine in matcha does boost energy, it is regulated by the presence of L-theanine. L-theanine is an amino acid that produces calm, alert, sustained mental energy that’s known to prevent matcha drinkers from experiencing a caffeine crash (3). A caffeinated drink that lets you stay calm yet alert, avoiding the jitters and eliminating the unpleasant after-effects of a caffeine buzz? Yes, please.

Health Benefits of Collagen

Vital Proteins’ Matcha Collagen takes matcha to the next level by adding in clean collagen protein. Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, is the main component of the body’s connective tissues. Because of its unique amino acid profile, which contains rich amounts of glycine, hydroxyproline, proline, and glutamic acid, collagen is especially beneficial for the hair, skin, nails, bones, joints, cartilage, and gut lining (4).

As a result, collagen users often experience healthier, more youthful skin, stronger hair, better athletic performance, and decreased injury from sports and other activities (4).

Pristine Sourcing

Finally, we purchase our matcha from one of the finest matcha purveyors on the globe, who has been cultivating matcha for more than 100 years. Sourced from the Nishio, Aichi, and Kyoto regions of Japan, our matcha is shaded from the sunlight prior to harvesting, which results in thinner leaves that are more tender and rich in chlorophyll than many other matcha leaves. While many companies use lower-grade matcha in their products, Vital Proteins’ matcha is the highest-quality food-grade matcha available.

In addition to our matcha sourcing, we also use only the finest sources of collagen. Our collagen peptides come from pasture-raised, grass-fed bovine from the pastures of Brazil. All of our products are regularly batch-tested to ensure 100% clean quality that is free of heavy metals, toxins, and artificial ingredients.

Organic Peach

Finally, if you choose our Peach Matcha Collagen, rest easy knowing that its flavor comes exclusively from USDA Organic Peach. Peach offers its own profile of nutrients and antioxidants. Both of our Matcha Collagen flavors are 100% free of added sugars and artificial sweeteners.

Then, stir your mixture into 8 fl. oz. of your favorite drink, such as cold or hot water, almond milk, coconut milk, or fresh juice. You can also use our Matcha Collagen in place of matcha powder in any matcha-based recipe.
