Follow These 4 Tips to Stay Healthy All Holiday Season Long

Here at Vital HQ, early- to mid-November means the (unofficial) start of the happiest time of year: holiday season! While gift-giving and spending time with loved ones are on the top of the list, so is taking care of ourselves and nourishing our bodies from the inside out. We’re all about the happy, with a side order of healthy, too.

Why wait until the New Year to focus on you? From now until the end of the year, we’ll be sharing our tips for Staying Vital throughout the holidays.

And we’re starting with talking about how you can stay healthy and vibrant while traveling this season, because we all know that the holidays can throw off your regular routine and put extra stress on the body, causing unnecessary sickness and fatigue.

Here are some easy healthy holiday tips that we wanted to share:

Exercise Alternatives

Finding a gym, a safe running route or even finding time to squeeze in a working can be a challenge while traveling. A super simple way to stay fit while on the road; bring a jump rope. Small and portable, you can easily do it in your hotel room to get in a quick cardio session. We’ve read that 10 minutes of skipping rope is about equivalent to running an 8-minute mile. Sounds easy enough to us!

Hydrate, Always

It might seem like a no-brainer, but staying hydrated is key to not spending the holidays sick. Did you know that one of the main reasons why you get sick while traveling is because of the lack in humidity in airplane cabins? Yep, that’s right! The decrease in humidity in airplane cabins causes mucous membranes to dry out, making it harder for our systems to flush out germs. Packing a reusable water bottle and filling it up once you get through security is an easy way to stay hydrated and healthy.

Pack Healthy Snacks

Stop at the grocery store a few days before you leave to stock up on healthy snacks to keep in your travel bag. Taking some time to pack healthy snacks will keep you from being tempted to grab that bag of chips or candy. One of our favorite portable snacks to bring while traveling is these Oatmeal Cookie Protein Bites, which you can make ahead of time for a healthy and satisfying snack.

Nourish Yourself

Keeping key nutrients – like collagen and beef liver – handy is a great way to amplify your nutritional intake, no matter what you might be eating. And taking your collagen on the go is now easier than ever with our hydrolyzed Collagen Peptides stick packs. The natural glycine found in collagen helps promote a healthy immune and digestive system, overall keeping you in balance.
